Lothian Bus Confirms £24M Order for Electric Buses

Estimates say the delay will add 10M additional tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere.
Lisa Brankin, Chair of Ford UK said, ‘Our business needs three things from the UK government: ambition, commitment and consistency. A relaxation of 2030 would undermine all three.’
Charge UK said ‘Today’s extremely worrying news is not consistent with economic stability or confidence. It will compromise the entire industry, and place jobs and consumer and investor confidence at risk.’

Lothian Buses has confirmed an order for 50 new double-decker buses to service passengers in Edinburgh.
The order is worth £24,000,000 meaning each bus costs £480,000!
The order is for 50 Volvo BZL electric double-decker buses. Key figures
– 200kW motor (272bhp)
– 14,013 lb/ft torque!
– 2 speed automated manual gearbox
– Lithium Ion Battery of up to 470kWh.
– 300km range
– 150kW CCS Rapid Charging
Bodies to be built by MCV.
2 Axle chassis. 70 seats. 1 staircase.
